Ph.D., Chief Scientist

Don co-founded IntraOp in 1993 and currently serves as its Chief Scientist. Don brings to IntraOp 40 years’ experience in product development for linear accelerators. From 1977 to 1985, Don headed product development of cancer therapy equipment for Varian, introducing five novel cancer treatment units into the market. Don later advanced to Manager of Sales Operations and became responsible for international market development and strategic planning for Varian. In 1991, Don participated in the founding of Accuray, assisting in the development of a unique linear accelerator for radiosurgery. Don is a renowned expert on linear accelerator technology and the author of numerous published articles, including the chapter on radiation therapy linear accelerators in the Encyclopedia of Medical Devices and Instrumentation. Don received his Doctorate in Physics from Ohio State University, publishing his thesis A Neutron Diffraction Study of Antiferromagnetic CoO with Nuclear Polarization from the HFS Interaction in the Region 0.35-4.2 Degrees K. Don completed his post-doctoral studies in Metallurgical Engineering.
