What We Do

The School of Oncoplastic Surgery (SOS) provides an opportunity for surgeons to immerse themselves in knowledge alongside world-renowned pioneers in oncoplastic surgery.

The SOS focuses on the importance of the multi-disciplinary approach in the pre-op assessment and the practical elements of how to perform Oncoplastic procedures.  Didactic lectures feature experts in breast surgery (oncology & aesthetic/reconstructive surgery), radiology, radiation oncology, pathology, and the psychosocial aspects of breast care.  A coding specialist will also be part of the faculty and will be available for the duration of the course to answer questions.

What We Learn

The SOS is well known for it’s all-day cadaver lab which provides ample time for attendees to get hands-on teaching and experience with many different oncoplastic techniques.  This year, several exciting new technologies will also be available in the lab so surgeons can learn and discuss how to integrate these tools into their practice.

Live models volunteer as “patients” to enhance the experience of learning in order for surgeons to learn the skin markings that are crucial to perfecting the art of oncoplastic surgery.

Where We Meet

The 3-day course format is designed as a “retreat” with faculty and participants situated with each other in one amphitheater, sharing meals together, networking, learning from one another and of course, socializing!

The course, which will be held at theOmni Mandalay at Las Colinas Dallas, TX, is structured to make the learning experience as pleasurable and productive as possible.

The cadaver lab will take place at theTexas Health Research and Education Institute (THRI), a part of Texas Health Presbyterian in Dallas.
