37th annual meeting of the German Society for Senology
With the establishment of a training academy, the German Society for Senology (DGS) has set itself the goal of developing a qualified and structured training program in the field of Senology. The German Society for Senology (DGS) has committed itself since 1981 to the breast health of women.A special concern of the DGS is to stimulate the exchange of experience between scientists from different medical disciplines as well as healthcare providers.
Lunchsymposium: Intraoperative Irradiation with Electrons
Chair: Prof. Dr. Rita Engenhart-Cabillic, Marburg
- Nine years of intraoperative electron boost with the mobetron: Hohenlinder experiences and results after more than 1200 therapies
(Dr. med. Claudia Schumacher, Cologne-Hohenlind) - Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation (APBI): The Verona Experience
(Dr. Nunzia Luna Valentina Cernusco, Verona)
Within the framework of the 37th anniversary of the German Society for Senology, we would like to cordially invite you to a Lunchs Symposium on the clinical use of intraoperative electron irradiation (IORT). The long-term experiences and results of the IORT boost irradiation by Dr. Dr. Schumacher from Cologne-Hohenlind, as well as the ten-year results of the sole IORT from Verona. Against the background of the new American guidelines on partial breast irradiation, which confirms the only IORT with electrons in older patients with small tumors as a complete replacement of the whole-breast irradiation, the IORT with electrons is again more strongly in the interest of the surgeons and radiation therapists. The study from Verona, whose ten-year results in this Lunchsymposium were first presented by Dr. Dr. Cernsco will be presented,More than 8,000 breast cancer patients have been treated with the Mobetron IORT accelerator. The Mobetron is the only self-shielded mobile electron accelerator that can be used in conventional surgery and applied the entire IORT dose in two minutes. Since the Mobetron has been optimized with regard to speed and clinical efficiency, the centers in which the system is used, as a rule more than 100 patients are treated annually.
For more information on the Mobetron IORT Accelerator please visit us at Booth 9 in the industrial exhibition.
